LIA — including its hardware designs, firmware, CAD files, and this documentation — is released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

What that means in practice

• ✅ Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
• ✅ Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.
• ⚠️ Attribution — you must credit the LIA project, link the license, and note any changes.
• ⚠️ NonCommercial — you may not use the material for commercial purposes without separate permission.
• ⚠️ ShareAlike — if you remix or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license.

Note

CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 is not an OSI-approved open-source license, because of the non-commercial clause. LIA is “open” in the sense that the designs and code are fully published and freely usable for personal, educational, and community projects — but commercial production or resale requires contacting the maintainers.
