Does LIA need a subscription?
Section titled “Does LIA need a subscription?”No. LIA has no cloud backend and no recurring fee. Location data travels over the Meshtastic mesh, which is community-operated and free to use.
Does LIA work anywhere?
Section titled “Does LIA work anywhere?”Only where there’s LoRa mesh coverage — either your own nodes or nearby community nodes on the same region/channel. In areas with no Meshtastic nodes at all, LIA can still log GPS fixes locally, but it can’t relay them anywhere.
Is LIA waterproof?
Section titled “Is LIA waterproof?”The enclosure is still under design, with the aim to have with a gasket seal on future revisions. However at the moment, and for development purposes the enclosure has pockets to easily access the BMS switch and external antennas — see Enclosure and Assembly.
Can I build my own?
Section titled “Can I build my own?”Yes — that’s the point. All hardware, firmware, and CAD files are published in this repository under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. See Downloads for the design files and Getting Started for firmware setup.
Can I sell LIA devices I build?
